DB2 Project
Client: IBM Global Services
IBM contacted Maricom to provide ten days of DB2 training services to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The agency had recently acquired DB2 and was looking to IBM to provide a resource that would not only guide them in administering the best practices, but to also develop DB2 standards and guidelines to be used by the agency as they began to deploy applications on this new platform. This ten-day assignment grew to a long-term engagement lasting nearly three years.
Maricom worked very closely with the Division of Data Services Central Database group and application development teams to not only train and develop standards, but also to design, review, and implement moderate to complex physical database structures. Other tasks accomplished on this project include:
| Developed procedures to migrate database objects through the various stages of the development life cycle. | |
| Provided guidance to application developers on the appropriate use of SQL and other database access tools. | |
| Reviewed and recommended the use of third-party database products for both DB2 and Oracle platforms. | |
| Developed and implemented procedures in the CMS configuration management environment (Endevor) to support DB2 and QMF application objects. |
