As CEO of Maricom Systems, Maria Beckett has more than 20 years experience in the Information Technology
industry. An Information Systems Science major at Stockton State College in Pomona, New Jersey, she has earned
several technical and professional certifications. Ms. Beckett has taught and authored a wide range of data
management related courses. She maintains professional memberships with the Presidents' Roundtable, the National
Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMSDC), the Woman Business Entrepreneur National Council (WBENC), and the
Baltimore-Washington DB2 User's Group. Ms. Beckett serves on the Board of Directors with the Baltimore Development
Corporation. Ms. Beckett was one of several business representatives on the Maryland Aviation Administration Small
and Minority Business Advisory Council and, in 2003, she served on the Business Development Advisory Committee to
Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich's Commission on Minority Business Reform.
Over the years, Ms. Beckett has received several individual and corporate recognitions including the
Maryland/District of Columbia Minority Supplier Development Council's (MD/DC MSDC) Outstanding Woman of Color
Award, MD/DC MSDC Supplier of the Year, USBE Top Black Technology Entrepreneurs, Washington Technology's Top 25
8(a) Contractors, Baltimore Business Journal's Top Minority Businesses, and Maryland's Top 100 Minority Businesses
by The Daily Record and the Maryland Governor's Office of Minority Affairs.
Ms. Beckett maintains a strong commitment to assisting other minority business owners and to the development
of our youth. Through Maricom, Ms. Beckett has established a college internship program, an annual scholarship
for college-bound youth in Harford County and supports numerous non-profit organizations throughout our community.
